Our having sold, this week, First Republic Bank on the cheap to JP Morgan Chase highlights a stark choice we must make as a polity. Either we lift caps on Federal Deposit Insurance, obviating the need of further such sales, or we bring terminal concentration and likely nationalization to US banking.
